The Toadstool Times

It looks like four new Mario games are in the works. It almost sounds like they're flooding the market, but I think a plumber would know better than that. {g} Anyway, as I've said many times before, I'm a big Mario fan, but I've never been very good at the games themselves, so I get most of my fix through watching other people play. And since bethje hasn't really gotten the hang of the 3-D Mario games, I haven't really seen much gameplay in any of the regular Mario games since the Super NES era. I thought that the return to side-scrolling in New Super Mario Bros. was a good idea, and it looks like that trend is continuing with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Also in that game are a four-player mode (although the two players who aren't lucky enough to get either Mario or Luigi end up with generic Toads, at least in the demo version) and the return of the original Koopalings. (Incidentally, have Bowser's original seven kids ever appeared in the same game as Bowser Jr.?) But the 3-D format hasn't been abandoned, with Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the works. Another game that's been announced is the third installment in the Mario and Luigi role-playing series. I still haven't managed to beat all of the Koopalings in the first one, but I did enjoy most of the game that I've played so far. I still haven't played Partners in Time, but I'm sure I will at some point, despite the fact that I find the baby versions of Mario and Luigi pretty obnoxious. The working subtitle for the new one is "Bowser's Inside Story," which certainly sounds intriguing. And the fourth is another Mario vs. Donkey Kong game. Cool, huh?
